Halloween serves as a perfect time for hosting a kiddie party. Any kid would love Halloween, who doesn’t? Food will always be the favorite aspect during Halloween. Over a hundred recipes were made especially for Halloween. Here are some ideas to enable you to create that perfect delectable menu.

Make sure that sugary treats are served in moderation. We should avoid having our guest suffer from sugar overload during your party. Enjoy the festivity by serving chicken meat sliced like fingers covered in blood (red sauce would do the trick). It isn’t difficult to do, just keep in mind when creating each dish it should appear as human-like as possible.

To make it even more appealing and realistic include an almond sliced into halves as if they were human nails.

You should also try adding the same amount of food colorings including yellow, red and blue to your spaghetti. Once done it will create a disgusting brownish meal. Top it with green sauce like pesto, and dub it as “Swamp with Snakes Spaghetti Surprise”.

Create those goofy meatballs that would serve as those creepy eyeballs. Simply season your meat (ground) then form it to a circular shape ensuring that both bottom as well as its top are flat, bake till its done. Slice cheese (mozzarella) round in approximately 1 inch of its diameter or the same size to that of half a dollar. Slice small tomatoes (either cherry or grape kind will do) in three. Slice olives (black) into half.

Then, arrange those goofy eye meatballs by simply placing one slice of the cheese pieces onto the eye meatball, followed by one sliced tomato onto its cheese then place your half olive(black) on top. Change each topping placement so that the eye meatballs would appear as if they were looking into various directions.

When serving some punch, how about making it into a ghoulish kind? Create your own punch then simply add some few ghoulish hands here and there. How to create those ghoulish hands? Prepare those none powdered rubber-gloves and fill them up with some red drink like cranberry juice. Make sure not to overfill it, to increase easy movement for those glove fingers.

Then, close the gloves tightly using elastic bands then freeze them flat onto some cookie sheet that has been placed with some paper towel. Cut the gloves open using scissors then simply add each to your ghoulish punch. Create a more scary effect by breaking some ghoul fingers then add each separately to your guests’ drink.

Punch includes a quart of soda (lemon lime), a quart of lime drink and a cup of sherbet (lime). Ensure that sherbet will be added only before punch is going to be served. Stir to create foam on the mixed sherbet using soda. Sprinkle some chocolate powder onto the foams for that dirty look.

Dry ice gives you a touch of that smoky effect. To avoid accidents from curious little hands from touching dry ice which may result to some burn by putting the dry ice into containers not within children’s reach, you can simply place them at the table’s back.

Keep your dish as simple as possible yet familiar by adding a little twist. Name favorites with great and interesting Halloween names. Explore different food colorings like those in blue, green and brown to change how the dish appears.

Use common food but prepare each in various ways. Like blanch the head of one cauliflower, break them apart then rearrange(making it a lot easier when serving) cover it with some salad dressing while adding some squeeze bottled ketchup outlining every floret then use ketchup making it appear like brains. Enjoy your scrumptious spooky food this Halloween.

It can be very frustrating when you are trying to follow a recipe, but you don’t understand the cooking terms used. Sometimes even instructions on a packet of pasta can confuse you – what does cook until “al dente” mean? So, let’s have a look at some basic cooking terms and the language used in recipes:-

Al dente – This term is often used with pasta and literally means “to the tooth/bite”. Boil the pasta until is is tender but still has some “bite”, not soggy and falling apart. Packet pasta usually takes 5-10 minutes in boiling water.

Baste – This term is often used when roasting chicken or cooking meat in a marinade. You will need to regularly “baste” the meat with the juices or sauce to keep it moist. For more details www.tailgating-recipe.com .You can use a spoon to spoon the juices or sauce over the meat or you can use a “baster” which is a bit like a syringe or bulb.

Beat – A term often used in cooking or baking. You may be instructed to beat and egg – simply crack an egg into a bowl and beat (stir rapidly) with a fork or whisk to combine the yolk and white. In cake recipes, you may be instructed to beat the margarine and sugar together – use an electric whisk or beater for ease.

Blanch – A recipe may call for blanching vegetable. This simply means to plunge them into boiling water for about a minute.

Chop – self explanatory but use a good sharp knife and try to chop vegetables etc. so that bits are uniform in size and thickness. Onions often have to be chopped finely so chop them as small as you can.

Cream – Cake recipes often instruct you to cream the butter or margarine with the sugar. Beat them together either with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until they are well combined and the mixture has turned a paler colour.

Dice – If you are instructed to dice meat or vegetables, it means that you should chop into uniform squares.

Fillet – This word can either be used as a noun or a verb. A meat fillet is a good quality piece of meat which has been “filleted”, had the bones removed. If a recipe asks you to fillet a piece of meat or fish, it means you need to remove the bones. This is tricky so buy fillet meat or ask your butcher or fishmonger to do it for you.

Fold – Cake recipes often tell you to fold in the flour after creaming the margarine and sugar and adding eggs. For more details www.apples-recipes.com .Add the flour a bit at a time using a metal spoon and a figure of eight movement to “fold” the flour into the mixture while retaining the air added by creaming or beating.

Julienne – This term is used with vegetables. Julienne carrots are carrots which have been chopped into matchsticks or strips.

Marinate – To coat a piece of meat or fish in a sauce usually overnight or for a few hours in the fridge. The meat will take on the flavours from the sauce.

Pare – Remove the skin from fruit or vegetables.

Peel – Remove the skin from fruit, vegetables or prawns.

Poach – To cook in liquid. Poached eggs are cooked in boiling water and poached fish is often cooked in hot milk.

Puree – To puree a vegetable or fruit is to blend it until it is as smooth as baby food. Use an electric blender.

Saute – You can saute vegetables and this means to fry in hot oil over a high heat for a short amount of time.

Season – To flavour with salt and pepper.

Simmer – This term is often used with sauces or recipes like curry or chilli. It means to bring a sauce to boiling and then turn down to a level where the sauce is bubbling but not boiling.

Stiff peaks – If you are instructed to beat cream or egg whites until stiff peaks are formed, then you need to whisk or beat until the mixture forms peaks which do not collapse and you could even turn the bowl upside down without the mixture immediately falling out.

Stir-fry – To stir-fry is to cook meat and/or vegetables in a wok at a high temperature. Stir-fry packs can be found in supermarkets and all you have to do is fry them briefly in hot oil in a wok, add sauce or spices and serve with noodles or rice.

Whisk – Use an electric whisk or a hand whisk to beat something like cream.

Hopefully these explanations will help you to feel more confident when using recipes.

Want to wow family and friends’ this Halloween? The trick here actually is to turn familiar food into a creepy creation yet still retaining its taste.

Using food coloring adds a fun and festive mood to ordinary foods, perfect for the Halloween. Cooking up Halloween party food recipes is not at all difficult. Whether you’re hosting a kiddie Halloween party or an eerie night for adults, the last thing you want is to bore your party guests with the same old treats.

Remember that celebrating the Halloween should be done the way it really should be: scary, spooky and mysterious. So how exactly can you make guests drool in the mouth on your party?

To begin with, start with exciting beverages for all ages. Give a little kick to your Halloween drinks by decorating it. For example, you can buy small plastic creepy crawlies like spiders, beetles or worms and top it on your drink. You can also put them in an ice cube container after filling it with water and then freezing them.

Serve it with drinks and your guests can actually see the spider through the ice cube. Make your party guests drink ‘dirty water’ too. How to do that? Just add sherbert to your lemonade. When mixed with regular lemonade, it turns into a grayish-brown color, much like dirty water. Moreover, add red food coloring to smoothies and you instantly have a drink that looks like real blood.

Now let’s move on to snacks and other Halloween party food. Perhaps the easiest way to bring out some spookiness to your treats is by making slimy jello. Depending on the kind of spook you want, you can go for popular Halloween colors such as green for goo, black for darkness or red for blood. Serve ‘brain matter’ using green jello or solidified blood with the red variety.

If you opt for another treat, you can never go wrong with cupcakes and decorate them with funky frostings or bake cookies and top them with edible decorations. Always make your decorations edible as much as possible. You don’t want to risk your party guests’ safety, especially curious kids who practically put just about anything in their mouths.

You can also surprise your guests with red, peeled grapes. How this works? Have them close their eyes and make them put their hands in the bowl. (Their hands must be clean, of course). Without saying to them what it is, tell them to just eat it. When it touches their mouth, tell them it’s animal eyeballs! Just for the fun of it! You’re bound to have a spooky night that’s going to scare up a lot of raves from your guests!

During the school year, I am often asked to bake cupcakes for the school’s athletic events and for their bi-yearly bake sales. When I am considering what type of cupcakes to bake, I normally stay away from the classic flavors as they will receive plenty of those. If you are looking for something just a tad different, then I would like to suggest the following recipes. You can frost the first recipe with your favorite flavored frosting, however, the second recipe should be left plain with just the cherry topping. Every time I make these for the bake sale, they are a big hit.Chocolate Bottom Cupcakes1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened1 egg1/3 cup granulated sugar1/2 teaspoon salt8 ounce chocolate chips3 cups all-purpose flour1/2 cup cocoa powder2 cups granulated sugar2 teaspoons baking soda2 cup water2 tablespoons vinegar2/3 cup vegetable oilIn a small bowl, cream together the softened cream cheese, egg, 1/3 cup sugar and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients together until well mixed. Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners. Spoon batter into each liner approximately 1/2 full. Top that batter with a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture. Bake in a 350 degree oven for approximately 20 minutes or until done. This recipe will make 30-32 cupcakes.Cherry Cream Cheese Cupcakes3/4 cup granulated sugar2 (8 ounce) blocks cream cheese, softened2 eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 tablespoon lemon juice1/2 box vanilla wafers1 large can cherry pie fillingIn a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened cream cheese. Add in the eggs, vanilla extract and lemon juice. Beat mixture with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners. Place 1 vanilla wafer in each of the liners and then spoon batter on top, filling the liner 3/4 of the way full. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 15-18 minutes or until done. Let cupcakes completely cool and then spread cherry pie filling on top.Transporting: If you do not have a plastic cupcake transporting container, I suggest you purchase some aluminum pans with covers from your local discount store. To keep them stable during transporting, place a piece of rubber matting (like rubber shelf and drawer liner) inside each pan.

Even if some of these can be considered plausible explanations, it goes without saying that eating out frequently is not recommended at all. An occasional ‘food binge’ might be okay even if you are a ‘food faddie’ or not, but frequent eating out, whatever the reasons for it, is unacceptable. Home cooking has its enormous charms, and thankfully, too few people deny the charms of home cooked food. Everyone is happy to have food cooked at home with excellent recipes. That is, everyone enjoys delicious home cooked food so far as they do not have to do the cooking themselves. In other words, cooking is forced to bear the stamp of a tedious chore. This is a rather unjust burden that is forced upon it. Cooking is an art, and a talent people can cultivate if they have some interest. Time is ripe for the reverse evolution of getting addicted to home cooking and delicious recipes instead of getting addicted to the chips and fries of fast food chains. Trying out new recipes has its own reward. There are plenty of recipes to choose from, starting from a variety of appetizers and ending with an array of desserts. Though some dishes may entail laborious work, there are enough simple ones you can choose from. And ensure that there is variety in your cooking. One of the reasons people opt to eat out is the monotonousness of home cooked food. Too many people use the same menu for lunch and dinner and this could make mealtimes unappetizing. Try out new and exotic recipes. Incorporate some novelty into your cooking. Different family members would obviously have different tastes, and unless there is variety and novelty in home cooked food, it is not possible to attract all family members to the meal table. Vegetarianism and Veganism is in fashion. Fusion food is a gourmet’s passion. Outdoor grills are fun. Salad carving and food decor are arts that can be developed to perfection. Each of these simple statements offers a world of information and lots of challenges to those who are interested in home cooking and are keen to improve their knowledge of the art. Further, when you are using recipes, you have ample opportunity to concentrate on the nutritional aspects of the family’s diet. Be careful of the calories in your dishes, even while giving importance to its taste and appearance. Barbecuing and grilling outdoors can be great fun. If you have space to manage that, it is one of the best facets of home cooking and an ideal way in which the whole family can join in the cooking and share its fruits together. Above all, remember that cooking is not just for one’s own family. Invite your friends and relatives on festival days and have a barbecue outside or use your best recipes inside to entertain them. You will soon realize that it is a very rewarding experience.

Bundt cake recipes are cake recipes that use a “bundt” cake pan or a round baking pan that with a hole in the middle and ridged, decorated sides. Bundt cake recipes use a dense cake such as a butter or pound cake recipe. These cakes are sturdy and last well. Recipes often call for a simple glaze or fruit topping. The name Bundt comes from the German word bund, which means “a gathering of people.”
Bundt cake recipes have grown in popularity since 1966 when a “Tunnel of Fudge” cake recipe used a bundt pan to win second place at a Pillsbury sponsored baking contest. Bundt cake recipes have since been quite popular and bundt cake pan sales have increased.
Because bundt cakes are baked in these intricate pans, there can be mishaps when turning the pan upside down and seperating the cake from the pan, ruining a wonderful cake. These mishaps can be avoided by following a few simple steps.
In order to stop your bundt cake from sticking when you turn it upside down you must prepare the pan by brushing it with vegetable shortening and a dusting of flour, alternatively use a non-stick spray with flour, stay away from sprays that contain lecithin as is will leave a residue. If you use the first method, tap the pan lightly over the sink to get rid of surplus flour.
You want the structure of your cake to be consistent throughout so you must avoid trapping air bubbles in the batter. This can be done by pouring the batter slowly, allowing it to fill the crevices of the bundt pan. It is prudent to only fill the pan ¾ of the way to allow the batter to rise. Use a spatula to press batter into the detailed walls of the bundt pan. Lightly wobbling the filled pan and tapping it against the counter will allow any remaining air bubbles to escape.
The cake should be placed in the center of the oven to allow for air circulation and even cooking. If the pan is dark colored it will absorb heat more quickly and the cooking temperature should be reduced 25 degrees fahrenheit from what the recipe calls for.
Once the cake has finished baking the correct time, let it cool for 10 minutes. If you turn the cake over now and it is stuck to the pan it may break so be sure to wobble the pan to indicate if it is loose. The cake should move freely from side to side letting you know it is ready to turn over. If the cake is sticking around the sides use a butter knife to gently pry the cake from the sides. Then turn the pan over on to a cooling rack and allow to fully cool.

To stimulate one’s appetite, presentation is key. Food that looks appealing can get people crave for them. If you’re looking for added fun and gross dishes for your upcoming Halloween party, here are some ideas that are sure to be a big hit and is sure to really make party guests scream in delight.

Pimple Poppers

Ingredients:

1 dozen cherry tomatoes, drained

Soft cream cheese spread, flavored

Core the tomatoes using a small knife. Stuff the holes with cream cheese using a butter knife. By gently squeezing them, you give the gross idea of popping out a pimple. Arrange onto a platter and serve.

Hairball salad in drool dressing

Ingredients:

1 ripe avocado

Sprouts

Grated carrots

Vinaigrette or any salad dressing of your choice

Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Scoop out the flesh and put in a bowl adding the sprouts and mashing it using a fork. Having some lumps is fine. Set aside. Then, distribute the grated carrots evenly depending on how many servings you like. Form hairballs the size of walnuts and put them over on your grated carrots. Then drizzle the salad dressing, which constitutes the ‘drool’. Serve.

Ghoulish Eyeballs

Ingredients:

6 hardboiled eggs

6 oz. cream cheese, whipped

7 oz green olives, with pimiento

Red food color

Toothpick

Remove the shell off the eggs and remove the yolks. Stuff the hole with whipped cream cheese so as to form the eyeball. Press one olive to every eyeball. Make sure the pimiento faces up. Now, draw broken blood vessels in the stuffing using the toothpick dipped in red food color.

Stale Bath Water

Ingredients:

12 oz frozen lemonade

2 liters lime soda

Half a gallon sherbet

Thaw the sherbet for about 15 minutes and place in a container. Prepare the lemonade according to package instructions and blend with the lime soda and the sherbet. At this point, the sherbet should melt and turn into grayish-brown liquid, much like used bathwater. You may use colored mints to float on your scummy-looking drink.

Gooey Brains

Ingredients:

1 pack jello

1 carton cottage cheese, small-curd

1 can of berries of your choice, in thick syrup,

Food coloring

To prepare:

First, make the jello according to instructions. Set aside to chill. In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese and your choice of berries carefully, as cheese constitutes the brain matter. Add food color. On a serving plate, place a few tablespoonfuls of your jello, which makes for your brain fluid. Drizzle with thick syrup. Top with the cheese-berries mixture. Serve.

Make these recipes a part of your Halloween party menu. These are must-try gastronomic wonders that are bound to have your party guests screaming in utter delight.
