How to Make Chocolate Cream Pies :

Beat to a cream half a cupful of butter and a cupful and a quarter of powdered sugar. Add two well-beaten eggs, two tablespoonfuls of wine, half a cupful of milk, and a cupful and a half of sifted flour, with which has been mixed a teaspoonful and a half of baking powder. Bake this in four well-buttered, deep, tin plates for about fifteen minutes in a moderate oven. Put half a pint of milk in the double-boiler, and on the fire.

Beat together the yolks of two eggs, three tablespoonfuls of powdered sugar, and a level tablespoonful of flour. Stir this mixture into the boiling milk, beating well. Add one-sixth of a teaspoonful of salt, and cook for fifteen minutes, stirring often. When cooked, flavor with half a teaspoonful of vanilla extract. Put two of the cakes on two large plates, spread the cream over them, and lay the other two cakes on top. Beat the whites of the two eggs to a stiff froth, and then beat into them one cupful of powdered sugar and one teaspoonful of vanilla.

Shave one ounce of Walter Baker & Co.’s Premium No. 1 Chocolate, and put it in a small pan with two tablespoonfuls of sugar and one tablespoonful of boiling water. Stir over a hot fire until smooth and glossy. Now add three tablespoonfuls of cream or milk, and stir into the beaten egg and sugar. Spread on the pies and set away for a few hours.

Chocolate is supposed to be the food of the Gods and it comes in various shapes and forms among which is the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake recipe is one of the most popular food recipes and is included in all occasions be it for New year, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, christening parties or Thanksgiving. No occasion would be complete without a chocolate cake recipe. Each chocolate cake recipe might have a different kind of chocolate; it could be dark, bitter, plain or dark chocolate or one which has very little sugar in it. The chocolate cake recipe might also use white chocolate in which case the cake turns out to be sweeter, richer and smoother and literally melts in your mouth. Some of these food recipes include organic chocolate which contains a lot of cocoa solids and is hence very expensive.Chocolate cakes are topped with decorations which are indeed noteworthy. They make the cake look even more delicious. Many a cake recipe includes almonds, honey, dates and cherries for toppings. You can also have some chocolate curls or balls to top the cake. Any food recipes which include chocolate are a hot favorite with just about everyone.Raw food is supposed to be a compulsory part of our diet if we are to eat healthy but it can be difficult to conjure up new recipes every day. But if you use the innumerable food recipes available on the Net, you will soon have your very own list of favorite food recipes to make any of several delicious dishes for each meal. You can choose from cucumber and tomato salad, melon sherbet or a papaya smoothie. You can try a whole lot of fruit salad recipes for desserts. For drinks try orange juice, watermelon juice, a cucumber cooler or a mango smoothie. Then you can find food recipes by country like Chinese recipes which include Chicken Manchurian, Sweet and sour prawns or hakka noodles. Then you have the chicken tandoori and the paneer tikka from India. One of the most popular Jamaican food recipes is jerk which is normally mutton, pork or other meats cooked over a charcoal grill after applying a mixture of spices. Although they use many different spices, the most common are the annatto and the allspice. Annatto is obtained from the pulp which goes round the seeds of the achiote tree and its flavor is a mixture of nutmeg and pepper. The allspice also called Jamaican pepper or pimento is fiery hot so use this with caution. The Net lets you look for some many free recipes and some websites even let you upload your recipe. So if you are willing to share your recipe with other people, you can do so. No matter if it is a cake recipe or any other food recipe you can put it up for the whole world to see.

Ingredients:

9 ounces unsalted butter, diced

9 ounces of dark chocolate (approx. 50% cocoa solids), broken into pieces

5 medium eggs, separated, whites from the yolks

9 ounces of sugar

1 Tablespoon of water

Glaze or Ganash:

5.25 ounces of dark chocolate, broken into pieces

2 Ounces of Heavy Cream

2 Tablespoons brandy

Garnish:

4 Ounces of powdered sugar and a sifter for dusting , and a doily to use as the mold for dusting a design on top of the cake

1 Sprig of Mint for the top as garnish

Directions for making the no bake chocolate cake recipe:

Preheat the oven to 325 for a gas oven, and 350 for an electric oven. You will need a 9” cake pan with a removable base, to add the cake mixture to before baking. In a pan over a double boiler you will melt the chocolate, and the butter, stirring often, and be careful not to burn. Once it is totaly melted remove from the double boiler, and wait to add the rest of the mixtures below as follows.

In a separate bowl you will whisk the egg yolks with half of the sugar for a few minutes until the egg yolk and sugar mixture is a pale yellow. This is done to make sure that the egg yolks are cooked, and the sugar is melted.

In a separate bowl you will whisk the egg whites with the other half of the sugar until they reach stiff peaks. When you have finished whisking you should have what is called a meringue, and it should be stiff and shiny.

You will then start to fold in the semi cool chocolate, and butter, into the yolks egg mixture, then the egg whites, you will do this in 1/3′s on each mixture. Make sure to fold in and not mix. You do not want to overwork, if you do the cake will be very dense instead of light and fluffy. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until done, when a tooth pick is inserted in the center, and comes out clear.

When the cake is cooked until done, you will remove the cake from the oven. You will then take a knife and insert it, and run it on the inside of the cake mold, and the outside of the cake. You are clearing the sides from the ring mold, and leave it to cool in the tin, on a wire rack. The wire rack will help air to circulate on the bottom so it will cool evenly, and it will cool somewhat faster. It will also help eliminate a soggy bottom, or center. The sides of the cake may shrink in some, or maybe even quite a bit that will be okay. You can trim the cake if you like, if the appearance is not an issue, that is all good, too.

While the cake is cooling melt the ganash, or glaze over a double boiler. You will do this with the chocolate, and the heavy cream stirring over a low to medium heat until all is melted. You will then add your Brandy and stir. You will then remove the cake ring or cake collar while leaving the cake on the base, place it on a plate or cake board. Trickle the icing over the top and edges, allowing it to run over. You will set the cake in a cool place or on a cooling rack for several hours for the icing to set.

Before you are ready for service you will use your doily at this time to make a pattern that you desire, and dust lightly over it, to make a design on the top of your cake. Do not touch the doily to the top of the cake just place about an inch or two above the top of the cake. Add your mint spring atop of the cake for the finishing touches. This cake can be served several hours after it has totally cooled, or you can chill it in the fridge and serve the next day if you so desire. Enjoy

Resistance is futile! It is indeed hard to resist the sweet smell of chocolate cake, especially when the aroma is linked with nice memories.

My mom is a very open person, and always willing to share. Not only is she generous with her advice, but she will share with you all the things that she experienced. she is always willing to explain sewing, cooking, or advanced mathematics. There is one thing, however, that she guards jealously. It is her biggest secret, and she had promises that she will carry to the grave. And that is her chocolate cake recipe. So far, we tried everything to to get it from her.

This is not just a normal chocolate mix cake recipe. This is seriously gourmet. It is not a simple chocolate cake recipe, either. Chocolate cake is normally very easy to make, but hers demands all day and all night. She is literally in there for 12 hours at a time, slaving away on the perfect chocolate cake. But it is wonderful. It is priceless. It is the most delicious cake that I have ever ate. I could do anything to get that chocolate cake recipe.

The thing is, my mother isn’t all that into chocolate in general. She never makes chocolate brownies. When she goes to a restaurant she won’t even order a chocolate brownie. But that chocolate cake recipe is her favourite thing in the world. Every holiday she cooks it, and each time we ask for more. Nobody ever gets sick of it. Even my friends, strict vegetarians who will only eat vegan chocolate cake recipes usually, will make an exception for her delectable chocolate cake. It really is that good.

The truly sad part is that, since I first tasted that chocolate cake, I will not eat any other sort of chocolate desert. Even the finest German chocolate cake recipe leaves me unsatisfied. Part of it is that my dear mother made it. She spends so much time on it, and clearly wants us to like it so much, that it is hard to resist. I don’t know if I would like it quite as much if it were someone else who made it, but even so I would like it still. After all, she has won several cookingcontests with her chocolate cake recipe. She has only participated a handful of times, but every time she has entered the same recipe, and every time she has won. It was no use to try to sneak in the kitchen. Until I left the room, she just refused to go on with her cooking. I hope some day she will share the recipe with us.
